Linked In is a big deal for anyone in the world of business, especially for networking and job searching. With over 300 million active users, it is a definite must in your social media portfolio. So you are just starting out, here are 5 tips to get you going.
1. Have a photo
I’d argue this is important for almost every social site but even more so with Linked In. Your profile is 11 times more likely to get viewed with a good photo and people need to see you to build up a business relationship. It is basic etiquette for an active user. 2. Fill out your profile completely
This is a business representation of yourself, so make sure you fill in your complete career history (that you want people to know about). You can add videos and website links to each section of your career history, which makes your profile more viewer friendly and adds validation too.
3. Grow your connections
Actively look to grow your connections. It is a positive to have as many connections as possible so use the ‘find connections’ functions as well as searching for people you want to connect with.
4. Recruitment consultants love it!
Be aware. The moment you begin to grow your connections, recruitment consultants will ask to connect and message you about roles they have available.
5. Leave recommendations
A good recommendation to a former colleague will go down a storm and is likely to see you get recommendations too.
